Blockchain mainnet development is the process of designing, implementing, deploying and maintaining an independent blockchain network with its own consensus, nodes, native assets and network rules.

What is a genesis block and genesis file in mainnet launch?

The genesis block is the first block of a chain. It sets the chain's starting state. In Geth-based networks, a genesis.json file defines the chain ID, the block numbers at which protocol upgrades switch on, the initial token allocations, the gas limit and the consensus parameters. Every node must load the same genesis file to join the same network. Ethereum's mainnet genesis block was loaded on 30 July 2015.
