How is fat graft survival measured?

Fat graft survival is measured by comparing breast or tissue volume before surgery, immediately after injection and at follow-up. Methods include 3D surface imaging, MRI or ultrasound volumetry and, less precisely, clinical estimation. Because each method has different accuracy, retention percentages from different studies or clinics are not directly comparable unless the method and time point are the same.
