Fat is harvested by liposuction, processed into SVF, and the adherent stromal cells are expanded in culture. The resulting product is more uniform than SVF but requires a licensed manufacturing environment.[2]
Evidence
Established clinical use of adult stem cells is limited to hematopoietic transplantation; ADSC applications in aesthetics, orthopedics and other fields remain largely investigational.[1]
Regulation and safety
Culture-expanded ADSC are regulated as biological products in most countries. The U.S. FDA warns consumers about unapproved stem cell products.[4]
