定义

Cell banking is a service that isolates and cryopreserves a person's own cells, such as adipose SVF, for possible future use.

快速回答

What is cell banking?

Cell banking is a service that isolates a person's own cells, for example SVF from fat, and stores them frozen in liquid nitrogen at about −196 °C for possible future use. Before paying for banking, check whether a future use of the stored cells is approved, how viability is tested after thawing, whether the facility is licensed, and the contract terms.

概述

Cell banking (셀뱅킹) is a service that cryopreserves a person's own cells or tissue, such as umbilical cord blood or adipose-derived stromal vascular fraction (SVF), for possible later use. Private (family) banks store cells for the donor or relatives for a fee, while public banks hold donated cord blood for unrelated patients. In the US, private cord blood banks must register with the FDA and follow donor-testing and tissue-practice rules. Registration does not mean the FDA endorses the bank. The only FDA-approved stem cell products are cord blood-derived blood-forming cells for blood disorders. In Korea, family cord blood banks need a health ministry licence, and cell processing needs MFDS approval. Studies report that the quality of frozen SVF varies with processing and storage time. Readers should check the bank's licences and which regulated uses actually exist.
